The order stauromedusae is currently under revision by
Allen G. Collins and staff at the NOAA National Systematics Laboratory at the Smithsonian Institution, National Museum of Natural History, Washington, USA. There are likely to be changes that affect this list and the classification of the stauromedusae when the work is published, changes that reflect the molecular results achieved by the team involved.
Specimens of the following species were collected in Cornwall during 2012/13 for the above study. Craterolophus convolvulus,
Haliclystus octoradiatus,
Calvadosia campanulata and
Calvadosia cruxmelitensis. Specimens of Haliclystus auricula and Depastrum cyathiforme are still needed for the study, these should be collected in 99% alcohol.
